leaving the world better then we find it - dolphin edition

Please read!

So you will soon realize this blog is not just a fashion blog, and I am a very globally aware person. This will be the first of many posts to come regarding world issues such as hunger, medical aid, animal protection, etc.

I just got home from seeing an AMAZING film at my city's Film Festival called "
The Cove". IT is about the dolphin slaughter in Japan, where 23 000 dolphins are getting killed each year, and (only some) of the meat is used as meat for people to eat. The problem, in addition to the useless slaughter, is that the meat contains extremely high levels of mercury, and that it is often advertised as other meat but isn't. These fishermen are making a lot of money from this slaughter. They capture the dolphins, and some are chosen to be sent to live in captivity in places such as Marineland, Sea World, but as said, the rest are murdered. A man named Richard O'Barry is trying to put a stop to this.

It is all based in this town of
Taiji, Japan. The rest of Japan, let alone the whole world, have no idea this is happening, honestly. O'Barry and his team are putting the word out there, speaking out against it.

For more information visit the
Sea Sheppard website or The Take Part: The Cove website or Save Japan Dolphins website.

I understand if this isn't your cause, but I highly encourage you to watch the
trailer. I also think it's important you find a cause. Tavi has done so with her Darfur stuff, and I've been doing poverty-related things with school for a few years now with my school. Even if you don't have money to put out, you can still volunteer your time.

That's all for tonight, loves. <3
